Helen Blakeman

Bio Helen is a BAFTA and International Emmy Award winner, both of which she received for her TV screenplay adaptation of 'Dustbin Baby' (BBC). She wrote the much acclaimed and controversial film 'Pleasureland' for Channel 4, has scripted numerous episodes of teen soap 'Hollyoaks' as well for the global hit series 'Call the Midwife' (BBC).
Helen is also showrunner of the BAFTA nominated children's show 'Hetty Feather' (BBC/Amazon) now in its sixth season. Helen is also an award-winning writer for stage and has numerous projects for film and primetime TV currently in development. Helen is also Chair of the BAFTA Children's Committee and a member of the BAFTA Council. She has also delivered creative programs for the British Council in Sri Lanka.
Currently developing a major international animation adaptation, Helen's ambition for Heroic is to open out writers' work to a global market, evolving connections across all aspects of the creative industry - from audiobooks to gaming to screen. As a co-founder of Heroic, and a writer herself, Helen knows exactly what it takes to get words on a page.
